When I was first approached by The Nate Berkus Show in Summer 2010 to create this book for Michelle Jones, I immediately said yes. Michelle's husband, Gordon Jones, a mud engineer, died in the explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon Oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Michelle was nine months pregnant at the time, and had a two year old son. I was so moved by Michelle's story that it literally left me in tears, and terribly saddened. I thought, "How could something so horrible happen to such a wonderful, young family?" I wanted to help in anyway I could. So here's the book me (and my daughter Hannah- an art and design student in college) created for Michelle and her boys. We literally had a few days to put this entire book together, so it was a real challenge - one that was well worth it. Michelle is one of the most incredibly kind people I have ever had the honor of meeting. She has a grace and strength well beyond her years, and I know with the help of her wonderful family she will move on to do wonderful things :) Luv and God Bless you and your beautiful boys, Michelle!
