Introducing......

The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres
Mission: Nutrition Tour!

Suitable for Pre K - 3rd Grade

The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres & Marie Letourneau are teaming up on a mission.....Mission: Nutrition!

The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres love their famous (and delicious) cheese soup!  Cheese is a healthy food, it's full of vitamins, calcium and protien.  What are your favorite healthy foods?  Together we will explore healthy food choices and have fun along the way!

A Quick breakdown of the program:

Run Time 40 Minutes
Uses the SMART Board
*

~What's in a title?

Together the students and I use the SMART BOARD to discover the meaning of the French words in the title "The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres" through words and pictures.

~ Where's France?

Students take an imaginary trip from their U.S city to France using giant props.

~Reading of "Mice"

Once we "land" in France, off we go to the bistro for some soupe au fromage

~SMART Board
Mission: Nutrition & "What the heck is it?" Game - Together we'll have fun with this interactive Q & A game that introduces young students to the basics of healthy food choices.  We have even more fun with the "What The Heck Is It?" game, where student view close-up photos of food and have to guess, well......"What is it?"

Once the program ends:

I highly recommend engaging the children in an after-program discussion regarding healthy food choices, coupled with an activity available free on my site.  See the
Activities section of my website for downloads of the following:

Some good choices:
The Healthy Foods Booklet
(approx 1 hour to complete)
The Healthy Foods Sheet
(approx 15 minutes to complete).

Note to Teachers:  A day or two before my visit, you might consider having students create the
Chef Marcel's Chef Hat.  Attach a name tag to the brim of each hat and have students wear them the day of my visit.  This is especially helpful so that I can call each student by name.

Class Size
My program works best with small groups of students, 2 or 3 classes together at a time.  I prefer this arrangement because it allows a greater number of students to get actively involved.  My program is a "hands on and hands up" program, where everyone should feel as if they were part of it.  Answering questions, using the SMART Boards, and being a part of the "Where's France?" ensemble is what makes it fun!

Program Run-Time
Programs usually run 40 minutes, but can go longer.  I am extremely flexible when it comes to the needs of the school.  Simply contact me with your specific needs, and I will adjust the program accordingly, adding more or less activities.
